I’m really sick of the media still talking about the Newton shooting.

I’m sick of seeing People magazine interviewing the families who lost their child to see how they’re doing and the aftermath months later.

I’m sick of seeing news articles about Connecticut challenging their gun laws.

WHY?

•You don’t see any articles on the cover of People magazine interviewing the families in the South side of Chicago on the aftermath of their lost family member to gun violence.

•There’s no articles on any major news website on the 6 month year-old BABY killed by gunfire from gangs.

•Conneticut has some pretty crime-ridden towns yet it takes a bunch of affluent,white children killed by gunfire for people to actually give a shit about gun violence.

•nobody thinks of the impact of gun violence in the South side of Chicago, when more children have been killed there by gunfire than in Newton.

•South Chicago hasn’t had a trauma centre for adults since 1988. The closest one is 15-10 minutes away, which after mass blood loss is pretty critical to surviving.

•A high-school student who started an organization to build a trauma centre nearby again was shot and killed by gunfire.

White people complain so fucking much about shit they don’t realize it could be SO MUCH FUCKING WORSE. HOW ABOUT HAVING YOUR KID KILLED AND NOBODY GIVES A SHIT?

Also topic on my mind the physics club president. Everyone I ask if they’re friends with her: “hmmmm I guess?” , “sure”

The Vice President who is also my lab partner told me today that she REALLY wanted to be president.(eye rolls) she also stated she never saw her at any physic club meetings until this semester. (I wanted to go to all physics club events I heard about, but was always unable to attend due to appointments or school. However I went to a bunch of stuff that summer with many physics club members.)

I’m not trying to put myself on a level that’s higher than her, but I’ve always sensed a feeling of BS honestly anytime I saw her last semester. She’d be decked out in bizarre white-hipster dresses and just looked kind of obnoxious TBH.

Now she wears daily a culturally appropriated Asian jacket to her ensemble for extra flair. Along with her Japanese flag bag -___-

She believes in reverse sexism just sayin’ and ignored me when I brought up not only my issue as a woman in science, but the fact that I’m a multiracial that isn’t accepted by one of the majority groups in science (Asians) as well as the group I IDENTIFY with.
Some stuff I experience that I doubt she does because she isn’t multiracial:

•In my physics class, 7 seats all around me will remain EMPTY until there’s no where else to sit and people will be forced to sit around me.

•Nobody will be my lab partner.

•I tried to speak Cantonese in an attempt to be friendly with some Chinese who speak Cantonese in an attempt to secure lab partners…THEY WALKED AWAY FROM ME.

•Chinese ask me “why are you taking Chinese History?” Even though I tell them I aM part Asian. You think full Asians or more Asian looking people are asked this??

My identity I’d questioned, scrutinised and dismissed on a regular, daily basis. Yet, that’s just something that she made no effort to even listen to or acknowledge. She just talked about her experiences as a female (white )physics major. She also glossed over homophobia and racism, not that her actions weren’t racist.

Look, it’s easy to say stuff doesn’t exist, or isn’t “that bad” when you’ve never experienced it yourself. Right? WTG physics club!!!

Most of the white people in my history of China class are WHITE MEN.
