I think I slept for about three hours this morning and when I finally got to sleep I had nightmares about the ruffles turning into tentacles and running off with my toiles. I woke up on the verge of tears and had to go check to make sure they were still there!
The most amazing feeling in the world is to see your costume on someone else and know that if it weren’t for you that would still be fabric sitting in a shop. Even though it’s just a toile there is just something about being able to take fabric and turning it into a wearable identity that feels really special.
Ha and check out that turban! I finally got sick of messing with it and just put the base on, wrapped the scarves together on my head then pinned. It took 3 hours to stitch each fold down and (not to brag) but it turned out BRILLIANT!
I got on the train at rush hour with a rolling suitcase and two garment bags and my purse! Managed to make it to class in one piece and I have to say I’m shocked at how well it went.
Aside from the collar issue and having to add four inches to the back bodice, it went smoothly! It’s just a toile with some major seam allowance so just squint your eyes and pretend you see the costume.
A huge thank you to my excellent model (aka classmate!) who patiently let me pin everything and play with the details.
edit: I forgot to add the ostrich feather in the turban for the photo but just imagine it sweeping to one side! Also, thank you to everyone who has written me encouraging words this week! Seriously love you allxx
