My father is English and English-Argentine, people don’t believe me when I tell them that. IDK my mother’s family is clearly something not European I feel. She looks like Bjork!
Porquoi?
Parce que a major identity issue, mainly for non-attractive Hafus (I am not kidding) who are not accepted in Japan and have a hard time figuring out who they are in the US, or really any other country. Most of the time the outsiders feel American in Japan, but are regarded and looked at as “asian” in America or in the other non-Asian country.
I’m scared that someone I know may stumble upon this so I’ll keep it low-key.
I’,m staying away from Race because I’m not really sure what my Race actually is. My mother looks pretty half-asian as does her entire family, especially her father. People tell me that I look mixed race specifically hafu. My father thought his entire life he was half-Irish turns out he’s not irish at all….
My mother is Jewish. To religious jews I do not look “Jewish” at all, and I’ve been in situations where I was buying things at a Jewish store and the Orthodox man behind the counter asked me if I was buying a gift.
I was buying a Star of David necklace at the Holocuast museum store in DC. My previous one broke and I wanted a new one.
Man: Is this a gift? he asked me
Me: No…it’s for myself I said.
Man: Oh…sorry.
