So today in my cultural anthropology class we discussed altruism, and I raised my hand and mentioned how I see all recipients of the medal of honor award from the Vietnam War to be examples of altruism. Particularly, when you read the stories of the soldiers who threw their bodies on grenades to save their fellow comrades. Someone in my class spoke afterwards and said majority of people who did something like that in Vietnam did so in order to get out of the war. -___________________-. It really saddens me how twisted the war is taught to people in history classes.

I don’t really think army Medic Thomas J. McMahon risked his life by saving 2 of his comrades who were wounded, and sacrificing his own life in the process in order to get out of the war…especially since HE VOLUNTEERED HE WAS NOT DRAFTED.
I hate ignorant people.
